Eyelid Surgery

How is eyelid lift surgery performed?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure to remove fat, excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes, features that make you appear older and tired, and may even interfere with your vision.

Eyelid surgery usually takes one to three hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. Dr. Rosenblatt will make an incision following the natural lines of your eyelids. Working through these incisions, Dr. Rosenblatt will separate the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, remove excess fat and trim sagging skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures.

What can I expect after eyelid lift surgery?

After eyelid surgery, Dr. Rosenblatt will lubricate your eyes with ointment and may apply a bandage. Your eyelid may fee sore, this can be helped with an oral pain medication. You can also use a cold compress to reduce swelling and bruising.
