Nose Surgery

How is nose surgery performed?

Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is performed to reshape the nose, reduce or increase the size of your nose, narrow the span of the nostrils or change the angle of the nose between the upper lip.

All of the incisions are made inside the nose, so there are no visible scars from the procedure. In order to achieve your visual goal, Dr. Rosenblatt may straighten the nose, trim cartilage, shave bone, build up a flat bridge or reduce the size of the nostrils. The procedure takes approximately one to two hours depending if there are other procedures performed in conjunction with the nose surgery.

Patients may go home with an external cast or splint in place, which can be removed after 5-7 days. Some patients experience discomfort and pain, which can be helped with an oral pain medication.

Am I a good candidate for nose surgery?

You may be a good candidate for facelift surgery if:

  • You have an abnormal appearance of the nose from birth defects, injury or disease

  • You have a nose that is cosmetically unattractive, or doesn’t “fit” your face
