Disproportionately large breasts can have a number of negative effects on the bearer, including back and neck pain. It can also make women feel self-conscious about the way they look. Dr. Rosenblatt offers breast reduction surgery for patients that are unhappy with the large size of their breasts.
How is breast reduction surgery performed?
During breast reduction surgery, if a small reduction is desired (1 cup size) liposuction can often be used to satisfy the desire. For larger breast reductions, fat and glandular tissue and extra skin are removed from the breasts, making them smaller, lighter and firmer. Incisions can be made around the areola and under the breast crease to reduce the appearance of scars. In some cases, the nipple will need to be raised and planning is essential so you will be marked before your procedure begins so that you can see the proposed change.
During your consultation Dr. Rosenblatt will explain breast reduction surgery thoroughly from start to finish, Dr. Rosenblatt will listen to your needs and help you achieve the results you expect.
What can I expect after breast reduction surgery?
After breast reduction surgery, many patients feel soreness in the chest area for approximately one week, which can be helped with an oral pain medication. Many patients return to work after about one week, and can return to normal exercise routines after a month. It is very important for our Manhattan area patients to go to follow-up appointments for proper recovery.
